UNCARIA TOMENTOSA

Cat’s claw (Uncaria tomentosa wild) is a plant of the Rubiaceae family, also known as “uña de gato”; or cat’s claw, due to the shape of its hook-like thorns, which allow the plant to hook and support itself to nearby trees, growing upwards in search of light. Salvia officinalis is a plant of the Labiatae or Lamiaceae family (the same as thyme and mint), native to the Middle East and the Mediterranean, but now widespread almost all over the world.

Well known and used in the kitchen to flavor dishes, sage is also known as a remedy in folk medicine for its

Its name derives from salvus, meaning healthy, due to the healthy virtues attributed to the plant.

In popular medicine, it is used to facilitate weaning, due to its galactofugal action.

Its use, in fact, makes the taste of breast milk more unpleasant and decreases its production.

Salvia officinalis against digestive disorders

As mentioned, by virtue of its choleretic properties, sage can be considered a valid aid in counteracting digestive disorders and can also be useful in case of loss of appetite.
